Proud Peavy

by Ann Huth-Fretz
(Tiffin, Ohio )

I had Peavy for 19 of his 27 years. He was a loyal, gentle and loving horse. For the past few years he was our "looking horse". We just looked at him in the field and admired his beauty - he was no longer able to be ridden for any length of time. On the weekends when I would go running, I'd pass him in the pasture and as usual would tell him I'd be right back. He'd meander down to the gate and wait. I'd see him on my return and, as usual, he would meet me at the fence and I'd tell him he was the most beautiful horse in the world and give him his hug and kiss. We would walk together to the barn to get his grain.

I miss him so much but I know he is waiting for me in heaven.
