Hello Again! Spring has finally arrived here in the Hudson Valley of New York. That means green grass, daffodils and...spring shots! If possible, you may want to consider splitting your spring shots in two sessions. Give half of the shots during your first appointment and half of the shots two weeks later. Splitting up the vaccinations may reduce some of the reactions associated with spring shots. Contact other horse owners in your area to see if you can do a group vaccination at a central location. This could save the cost of separate veterinary barn visits. You could also, with your veterinarian's instruction and approval, administer some of the vaccines yourself.
Tip Of The Month:
Cautious kissing: Be aware that horses may graze in or near poison ivy and the oils can linger on your horse's muzzle. A few kisses later and you've got poison ivy...on your face! Plain water is recommended for removing the oil.
